چکیده
As we remarked during last lecture, some columns of matrix A are equal, for example p0010 = p0100 = p1001, or equivalently, p0010−p0010 = 0, p0010−p1001 = 0. However, this type of relation is not the only one that holds. In the following, we describe a minimal set of relations that characterize the columns of A. We will describe three type of relations: linear ones and two different types of relations of higher order.

Recall from your high school math that a polynomial in a single variable is of the form p(x) = adx + ad−1x + . . .+ a0. Here the variable x and the coefficients ai are usually real numbers. For example, p(x) = 5x3 +2x+1, is a polynomial of degree d = 3. Its coefficients are a3 = 5, a2 = 0, a1 = 2, and a0 = 1. Polynomials have some remarkably simple, elegant and powerful properties, which we wil...

In recent years, mathematics is an essential aspect of all areas of daily life and the best predictor of being successful in economic situations of society. For many students, the mathematics accompanied with frustration, anxiety and negative attitudes towards mathematics. These students believe their anxiety have been derived from their math teachers, math misconception and weakness in math as...
متن کاملTopics in Logic and Foundations: Spring 2004
This is a set of lecture notes from a 15-week graduate course at the Penn-sylvania State University taught as Math 574 by Stephen G. Simpson in Spring 2004. The course was intended for students already familiar with the basics of mathematical logic. The course covered some topics which are important in contemporary mathematical logic and foundations but usually omitted from introductory courses...
